It must be my being compulsive that's why i soooooo love amsterdam now. Yep... you heard me right. I'm in the Drugs-state! Hahaha. I am spending my break from work here in Amsterdam before heading back to Manila. I never imagined I'll have the courage to travel alone in another country! This is my first time to do this and I think im not so bad at it. I'll definitely be doing this more often! Ang gastos! Speaking of gastos, travelling europe doesnt come cheap.

1. Plane ticket - i got mine for free because my flight from Helsinki to Manila has a stopover in amsterdam. To be able to stay overnight, or for a couple of nights here just like what I did, you need to negotiate your booking with your travel agent if it's possible not to ask you to pay additional charges for stopping over amsterdam more than 24hours. With the help of my loving employer (hehe), I was able to bargain with them 4days stopover here in Amsterdam. If you're wondering who our travel agent was, it's Baron Travel in Manila. They even gave us 30kgs baggage allowance for checkin. Yipee!

2. Hotel accommodations - This doesnt come cheap. Im paying 75euros a night. Roughly around 5000pesos for a 3star hotel. My goodness! Can you just imagine how much a 5star hotel costs here?! With the same amount, I can pay for a 5star hotel in manila! And what's worse here, my room is like a doghouse! It's so tiny! I can barely move inside my room. Hayyy... complaints! complaints! Im a such a cheapskate that's why i did not get a 5star hotel. hehe. I would rather spend my money shopping than have a very nice room which I cannot bring home to the philippines. Hahaha.

3. Shopping - Did you know that this time of the year, almost all stores here in Amsterdam are on sale? Everyday walk in the shopping district is such a challenge because there are lots of people going gaga over shopping! Im not the only shopaholic here.

4. Food - I am not so experimental with the kind of food I eat. It's just that ive had a lot of incidents of ordering the wrong food. Well it sounded delicious but came out yucky! And so I have this standard with buying food... I stick to the food ive already tasted. I have this new addiction... there's this chinese take out resto in the city center. Its name is Wok to Walk and their food is so good. Actually, it's only fried rice / rice in a box style just like in manila but i so love it. I have it for dinner every day. Hahaha!

5. Transpo - Taxi is such a no no here. It's so damn expensive. So what im doing now is to walk and walk and walk. Walking is good for the heart. And also for the pocket. hahaha.

So far im enjoying amsterdam. I like it here. Even better than helsinki. But beware... pickpockets are everywhere in amsterdam and walking in the streets is challenging because there are lots of bikers here. im thinking i wont get run over a car or bus here... but a bike maybe!

I love amsterdam. I love the architecture. I love the shopping districts. I love the canals. I love the flowers. I love this country. I will surely be coming back here!

20. I hate fruits in my viand. I dont like seeing pineapples, apples or any fruit cooked with meat, fish or chicken. My chef boyfriend tried to make me eat such food but I just had a teaspoon of it and told him it was good so I wouldnt hurt his feelings but in truth I disliked it. White lies!

19. I do not eat monggo (mung beans) that's made into viand. Ginisa/ginataang monggo is a usual food in my household especially during lenten season. Even if it's the only food left in this world, I dont think I can ever eat it. The same goes for ampalaya. The reason behind this huge dislike of this food is that I had a torture experience with it when I was a kid. I will not elaborate further. I just dont like it, period!

18. I am a frustrated architect. When I was younger, I loved drawing and I had good grades in my art subject until I reached highschool. In my fourth year in highschool, I was not sure of what course to take. Since Computer science was the "in" thing that time, I put that course in my college applications. Luckily, I passed UP and got that for my course. Compsci in UP is a quota course, mind you! During the end of my first year in college, I realized how much I disliked computer science subjects because I hated programming. And so I asked my parents if i could shift to another course (architecture in diliman) but they did not allow me. They told me there's no money in architecture. And since I didnt have much choice, I was forced to finish CompSci. I didnt have high grades but I was also not failing my subjects in college even if I did not like my course. Probably that's the reason why I did not excel. Ive always thought my career would be leaning towards the arts, but seems like things do change. Could have been I finished architecture, the architect could have hired me in his company in Cebu. Hayyy... some things are just not meant to be.

17. Ive had three serious boyfriends. Ex-1 is a batchmate in UP. He is now a doctor. Ex-2 is the guy from cebu who was an architect. And then hopefully my last one is my current boyfriend, who is an aspiring chef. These are the men in my life. =) I also had a cyber boyfriend in australia. hahaha. definitely not counted!

16. I got my father's blessing to get married last christmas. Although I have no groom yet, not even an engagement ring on my finger, my father told me he wants me to get married already and have grandchildren soon. OMG, pressure! pressure!

I spend my free time going online and browsing for sales. I am a bargain hunter. If you visit finland, i can tell you where you can buy things at a cheaper price. I now think it is a skill. hehehe.

10. I had a bad experience of being chased by an admirer carrying a very big bouquet of flowers in the corridors of UP Manila on a regular semester where there were tons of students. Yes, they saw me running very fast away from that admirer. He did not even reach the suitor level because I already dumped him before he even told me his intentions. I am rude, I know!

9. I have a trauma with big trucks and buses swerving towards the vehicle im riding on. My bestfriend's car where I and my bestfriend were aboard got hit by a huge bus on our way to school in taft avenue back in college.

8. I almost got picked up by an indian guest in a hotel where my cousin used to work in Vito Cruz. I used to go to that hotel after school so that I can get a free ride home with my cousin. while waiting in the lobby, an indian guest approached me and asked me if i could come up to his room. it was scary! to think i was wearing a TIBAK outfit (read: jeans, t-shirt and rubbershoes). could have been he was goodlooking, i might have second thoughts in going to his room. hahaha.

7. I used to be a lead guitarist in my band back in highschool. I also play the piano. See... im talented! But the last time i touched the piano at home was like 3 years ago?! I never had formal education but since the instruments are just within reach, plus my uncles and aunts play these instruments, it was pretty much easy to learn.

6. I dont eat chocolates bars. They say that 99% of women loves chocolates, well I say, I do belong to the remaining 1% who doesnt like it. Well, I used to love chocolates years ago but I just woke up one morning not liking it anymore. I still have my dozes of chocolate in the form of cafe mocha, mocha frappe, nesquik cereals, etc. But no chocolate bars for me, thank you.

I have a new obsession... I've been watching Hanayori Dango over and over for the past 72 hours. I just can't get enough of Jun Matsumoto! hahaha.

Two years ago I was quite addicted to watching Meteor Garden. I even bought pirated(Shame on me!) cd's of the 2 seasons. I liked Dao's character most and liked the artist(Jerry Yan) so much. He's so good looking! Hahaha. Also, I think Mei Zhuo(Vaness Wu) and Xi Men(Ken Zhu) are so sexy. Fine! Im a big fan. I even resorted to downloading pictures of them and some mp3s from F4 albums. Pathetic! Hahaha. Going back to my recent obsession... Meteor Garden was based on this old Japanese drama Hanayori Dango. If my research was right, it started from a japanese cartoon and eventually made into a t.v. series.

So what's with Jun Matsumoto? His character in the drama series is like that of Jerry Yan's character in Meteor Garden. He's the leader of a rich group of brats, F4. Anyway, i think i just like the character. I like the idea of some filthy rich guy who falls in love with a poor girl and fights for their love even if it was against all odds. Hmmm.. sounds familiar. Hehehe.

Anyway, I'll just enjoy watching this drama in my winamp shoutcast. I just hope my internet wont get disconnected because I havent paid our bill for december-january yet.
